Our Story — Why We Started Gather

Gather Workshop started with something much bigger than a love of creating. It came from a deep love of bringing people together. There is something special about sitting around a table, talking, laughing, and genuinely enjoying the people you're with. But over the years, I began to notice how much harder those moments seemed to be to find.
 

We live in a time when we're constantly connected, yet people can still feel incredibly disconnected. Our schedules are full. Families are busy. Friends don't always have time to get together. And even when we do go out, there aren't always many places where we can actually do something together and engage with one another.
 

My faith was also an important part of that decision. Hebrews 10:24–25 reminds us of the importance of meeting together, encouraging one another, and considering how we can spur one another on toward love and good deeds. I believe we were created for connection and that gathering together—making time for one another, encouraging one another, and being present with one another—is very important.
 

The projects give us something to do with our hands, but the project isn't the whole purpose. It's what happens while we're making it that matters just as much—the conversations across the table, the laughter, meeting someone new, spending time with a friend, nurturing a relationship through intentional time together, or simply getting out of the house and being around people.

I wanted to create a place where coming by yourself wouldn't feel strange, where getting together with friends gave you something engaging to do, and where people of different ages and backgrounds could sit around the same table and create something together.
